Join Prof. Francesco Capuano and I to work on:
Multiscale modelling of atherosclerosis progression driven by environmental factors
We are looking for motivated Master’s, PhD and Postdoctoral researchers to join the ADHERE project, funded by the Spanish State Research Agency (AEI). ADHERE develops next-generation computational methods to investigate how environmental factors influence the progression of atherosclerosis, combining mathematical modelling with experimental and clinical research.
Working at the interface of computational mathematics, fluid mechanics and biomedical engineering, you will contribute to the development of innovative multiscale modelling frameworks while collaborating with experimentalists and clinicians to translate computational discoveries into biomedical insights.

What you will work on:
- Multiscale mathematical modelling of atherosclerotic plaque formation and growth, and its interaction with environmental factors
- Development of efficient and structure-preserving computational methods for multiphysics problems in complex geometries with moving interfaces
- High-fidelity simulations of transport phenomena and biological processes in realistic vascular geometries
- Integration of computational modelling with experimental observations and patient-specific clinical data to evaluate how environmental factors may alter cardiovascular risk in a mechanistically interpretable manner

What you bring:
- Background in engineering, physics or mathematics
- Experience/interest in fluid mechanics, mathematical modelling and computational science
- Experience/interest in scientific programming (Julia, Python, C++, HPC libraries)
- Curiosity, creativity and enthusiasm for interdisciplinary research
